Based on the song Original Sin, which was recorded by Pandora's Box and Meat Loaf. Einladung zum Ball and Tanzsaal are based on the same song. The title is a famous citation of Friedrich Nietzsche, whom the character Graf von Krolock is based on. Graf von Krolock approaches the village and watches Sarah from outside her house.

An alteration of Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart. It was not translated into English, the original Bonnie Tyler lyrics were kept for the Broadway show. A verse was removed in later versions. Sarah wanders through the castle, Graf von Krolock watches her.

Alfred is having a nightmare about the vampires.

Also later known as "Ein guter Tag" (A Good Day). Professor Abronsius gets ready to find the count's crypt.

Alfred and the professor find Graf von Krolock's and Herbert's coffins in the crypt but are unable to kill them.

Also appeared as "Milady" in Steinman's musical, The Confidence Man. This song was later moved from this position to immediately after "Ein guter Tag". "Bücher" and "Bücher - Reprise" (Noch mehr Bücher) are still separated by short scene between Alfred and Sarah (after which Alfred originally sang "Für Sarah"). Alfred sings a song for Sarah in which he reminds himself why he is putting himself in such danger.

Sarah and Alfred are happy to have escaped to safety until von Krolock's bite starts showing effect and changes Sarah.
